She
started as a prominent voice in church choirs. In 1943, she was part
of Earl Hines's orchestra, and then in that of B.Eckstine -the birthplaces
of bebop stars. Her voice-versatile and emotional, was greatly influenced
by the boppers. Towards the end of career, Sarah admirably sang a
wide range of themes from the american classics to the Beatles.
